Welcome, Kristin Watts!
On behalf of the St. Anne’s Day School Advisory Council, it is my great pleasure to announce that Kristin Watts has been appointed the new Director of St. Anne’s Day School and Enrichment Programs. The effective date of her employment is yet to be determined as she will be transitioning from her current position over the next few months. We expect her to be in place no later than July 1, 2016.
Kristin is currently the Director of Admissions at Trinity School where she has held the position for over 10 years. She is familiar with St. Anne’s Day School through numerous hours spent in our classrooms observing applicants, and many of you already know her from these visits.
Prior to joining Trinity, Kristin was the Director of Enrollment Management at University Lake School in Hartland, Wisconsin. While there, she also taught in the Upper School and assisted in the Elementary School where she was first exposed to the Reggio approach in education. Kristin recognized her passion for working with the younger children and began searching for a position where she could combine that passion with her professional strengths, and that led her to Trinity in Atlanta.
Before her time at University Lake School, Kristin spent 5 years at Wabash College as the Assistant Director of the Greater Wabash Foundation where she was Senior Assistant Director of Admissions and participated in a successful capital campaign.
Kristin received a BA from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC where she majored in Spanish Literature and minored in Politics. She earned an MA in Human Resource Development from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan.
Kristin is married to Jay Watts who works at the Westminster Schools as an Assistant Director of Athletics, teaches economics in the Middle School and is the coach of the girls’ varsity lacrosse team. Kristin is the proud mother of 2-year-old Colby and step-mom of Campbell who will be graduating from Trinity this year.
Kristin has strong administrative skills and is very well respected in the Atlanta education community. Her strengths include her knowledge about and relationships with area public and private elementary schools and the development of children from the age of three through sixth grade. In her current role she has developed the personal skills needed for interacting with parents of young children and with the children themselves. She manages the Admissions Office team, serves on the Trinity Leadership Team, and represents the school to prospective students and parents and to other professionals at conferences and other gatherings. She also administers the scholarship program, along with the Director of Finance, and creates and manages the Admissions Department budget.
As Kristin wrote in her Statement of Educational Philosophy, “Educators have the blessing of interacting with and modeling for children. Building a strong foundation in confidence, curiosity, and communication skills will help children to grow a lifelong love of learning, which is truly a gift. I am grateful to have found my passion in life, which is working with young children. Now, I hope to help children discover their own passions.”
