Health Guidelines
If your child becomes ill while in our care, we will contact you immediately. It is important we are able to get in touch with you at all times.

A child should remain home if the following symptoms have occurred in the past 24 hours:

  • Fever greater than 100.4 degrees
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • Rashes of unknown origin or pustules
  • Severe coughing, wheezing or other difficulty breathing
  • Unusual drainage from the mouth, eyes, ears, nose
  • Running nose with thick, darkly colored, or foul smelling discharge
  • Conjunctivitis – redness of the whites of the eye, drainage of the eye, crusty matter around eye, excessive tearing of eye
  • Evidence of head lice
  • Abnormal behavior, i.e. lethargy, irritability, persistent crying
  • Cuts or openings on the skin that are pus filled or oozing

If a child develops any of these symptoms during the day, parents will be notified to come and get the child via phone, text or email. A child must be free from fever, diarrhea, and other ailments for 24 hours prior to returning to the program. A recurring illness or symptoms that cause concern may require a physician’s note before the child returns to school. Before obvious symptoms appear or if a parent suspects a child is getting sick because of behavioral or dietary changes, the child should remain at home.

No over-the-counter medication or non-emergency prescriptions shall be dispensed to children while in the Parent’s Morning Out program.

In order for your child to attend Parents’ Morning Out, a current immunization certificate is required.

Parents should notify the caregivers if their child has a communicable disease. Notify PMO immediately if your child contracts any communicable disease, including but not limited to chicken pox, measles, mumps, strep, staph, and fifth disease, so that parents of other possibly exposed children and pregnant women may be notified. Some communicable disease will require reporting to Fulton County Health Department. All such reports shall remain confidential. Parents will be notified with paper letter and/or email from the Church regarding communicable diseases that children have been exposed to.

For minor injuries (bumps and scrapes), children will receive an “ouch report” from the classroom educators. This may be a phone call or a written note. For more serious injuries parents will be by contacted by phone. Please ensure you are always available by phone while your child is in school.

Allergic Reaction Medical Plan: Should a child exhibit symptoms of an allergic reaction to medication, food or beverage, insect bite, etc., the parent will be notified. It is the parent’s responsibility to inform PMO of any known allergies. If the child has been prescribed an EpiPen in case of an emergency, please provide the caregivers with the EpiPen. PMO must have on file written medical documentation and instructions as directed by a physician, please contact PMO for a copy of the Parental Release for Administration of Medication, and the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan. EpiPens will be kept with the caregiver. Children must never have an EpiPen in their bag or belongings.

Emergency
In case of illness or accident, a member of our Church Staff will attempt to contact a parent for direction as to treatment. In the event a parent or emergency contact cannot be reached, or where in judgment of the Staff it would be detrimental to the child to delay treatment, the Staff will call 911 and use the nearest emergency facility to treat the child at your expense.

In the event of a tornado, severe weather or crisis while children are in our care, we will follow emergency procedures outlined by the Saint Anne’s Day School. Inclement weather days will not be made up.

In the event of a fire, children will exit the building via pre-designated exits for their location at the time.

In the event of power loss in the building, parents will be contacted and, if necessary, children will be relocated to an area in the building with emergency lighting.
