The Carol Maddox Forrester Outdoor Classroom
On April 24th, 2014, The Carol Maddox-Forrester Memorial Outdoor Classroom was dedicated and officially opened. This labor of love, supported by the generous donations of friends and family of St. Anne’s Day School, was the vision and swan song of the newly retired Director of the Day School, Janet Reinertsen. Years in the making, general contractor, Fred Dawson and project manager, Emily Gossett, both St. Anne’s parents, fastidiously worked to help realize this vision.
The St. Anne’s community is very excited to bring this new space to life, which features a multi-level, decked tree house structure with art, music, and construction rooms, a covered bridge over a natural rain and run-off water filtration system, a covered piazza with textured labyrinth in-lay, a reading room, tricycle track, vegetable garden and multiple planting beds, cistern and well-water irrigation, and accessible pathways that will connect both the St. Anne’s Terrace and Church through this space.
We are extremely grateful to all those who helped make this dream a reality. Thank you, from the children, educators, and families of St. Anne’s Day School!
